Native American Regions

The Sioux, Cheyenne, Crow and Blackfeet Indians lived in the Northern region of North America.
The men in the tribes wore skin leggings, they did not really wear shirts. They mostly wore buffalo fur around their shoulders. They even wore lion cloth belts.
The Northern plains groups grew their own food. Some things they grew were maize, beans, and pumpkins. Other tribes collected wild fruits, and veggies. The tribes rarely traded their food with the other tribes.
The Plains Indians lived in teepee's made of buffalo hides. The buffalo was held up by wooden poles. The teepee's were warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
The plains indians believed in underwater spirits. They believed that the underwater spirits controlled animals and plants.
They believed there was and upper world ruled by the Thunderbirds. The thunderbirds were the most powerful of the spirits.
The Plains Indians were known as gifted artists. Most artwork was done in paintings.
In the summer it was hot and in the winter it was cold.
